Farewell to our Creative Director

We bid farewell to our Creative Director, Zac James! Zac has been a part of the Yirra Yaakin family for a total of 14 years in various roles. Most recently, he has served as our Creative Director and, prior to that, our Associate Artist. During this time, Zac has been a writer/devisor for Ice Land: A Hip h’Opera, written our young people’s plays Bilya Kaatijin and Kaarla Kaatijin, co-written Djinda Kaatijin, developed our Moorditj Wirla (Strong Heart) Workshops for high schools, been a facilitator, mentor, and dramaturg for our Yirra Yaakin Writers’ Groups, been a facilitator for our Ngalaka Daa Ensemble, and much more!

Zac will continue to be involved with the Company on various projects, and we wish him all the best for his independent creative endeavours!

To keep up to date with Zac’s work, follow Desert Wirla on social media. Zac’s latest play, Kangaroo Stew, is playing at Koorliny Arts Centre on Sat 30 Apr and Queens Park Theatre, Geraldton, on Fri 6 May (community performance) and Sat 7 May.
