Celebrating Aboriginal Storytellers
Join Yirra Yaakin Theatre Company for two powerful days of play readings celebrating Western Australian Aboriginal playwrights and the transformative power of theatre.
Discover the creative voices emerging from Yirra Yaarnz Writers’ Group, an intensive program dedicated to developing the next generation of Aboriginal storytellers. Led by award-winning playwrights Polly Low and Hellie Turner, this presentation celebrates the enduring importance of storytelling in Aboriginal culture and provides a glimpse into the exciting work of writers shaping the future of Aboriginal theatre.
Yirra Yaarnz is a supportive space for local, emerging and established Aboriginal playwrights to develop their writing through mentorship, dramaturgy and practical workshops. Participants will be guided by acclaimed dramaturgs Hellie Turner and Polly Low, who will support writers throughout the creative process.
