Kep Kaatijin is back in 2014!
KEP KAATIJIN BRINGS STORIES FROM THE WATERWAYS TO THE WA MUSEUM
After a successful premiere season at the 2013 Awesome Festival Yirra Yaakin Theatre Company continues its celebration of 21 years of sharing Aboriginal stories, with a season of Kep Kaatijin at the Western Australian Museum.
Drawing from Yirra Yaakin’s rich history of creating stories for young people, Derek Nannup takes the helm once again to direct the second installment of Yirra Yaakin’s Kaatijin trilogy. Through traditional and contemporary myths and legends, Kep Kaatijin by David Milroy & Derek Nannup brings to life stories from the waterways of the South West of Western Australia.
Kep Kaatijin features performers Taylah Green, Shakara Walley and Ian Wilkes presenting a range of stories and engaging, playful characters. From Mumung, the hungry whale, to Djitty Djitty, the angry willy wagtail, Kep Kaatijin will take young audiences on a fascinating and entertaining journey into traditional Noongar culture.
